Prepare The Noose

verse:

Who accepts this small commission,

For the work that's done today?

Sold a soul without permission,

Anchored down by ball and chain.

We aren't the ones who watch the crime,

We aren't the ones who serve the time.

Your loss is our entertainment,

Your loss is our gain.

chorus:

Prepare the noose.

The jury's out deliberating.

We'll cut them loose.

verse:

Tried to stage an intervention,

Arrived one minute too late.

Save your breath they wouldn't listen to us anyway.

They're out on a holy mission,

Sent forth by a guiding grace.

Save your breath they wouldn't care what you had to say.

chorus:

Prepare the noose.

The jury's out deliberating.

We'll cut them loose.

Prepare the noose.

Gather around for a hanging.

We'll cut them loose.

bridge:

Lights out,

Media knows what we want.

Mass graves,

We want to see them all rot.

We want to see them all rot.

We want to see them all rot.

Prepare The Noose was born from a riff the band was jamming on prior to playing Bless Tonight during band practice.  Derek locked in on a funky bass line while Daniel and Alex messed around on drop-D guitars.  It wasn't long before the band realized the potential the jam held.

Daniel put together the chorus and bridge in a matter of minutes, and Alex began singing a melody that had been stuck in his head for days.  Lyrics would finally be written after the song had already been debuted at The Boobie Trap in January 2003.  The song was influenced by media coverage of the War in Iraq and the protests surrounding the conflict.

Prepare The Noose was first recorded in Chris Ellis's Kansas City studio in April of 2003 and recorded again for the Demonstration IV LP.
